Nextiva (www.nextiva.com), an industry-leading cloud-based communications provider, announced today that it has named Phil Steitz its first chief technology officer (CTO), responsible for Nextiva’s product development, engineering, architecture, and overall technology strategy.
As a seasoned executive, Steitz comes to Nextiva with a 30-year career leading global technology teams. His professional experience includes a ten-year tenure at American Express, including serving as its first global CTO and leading transformational change in the company's technology strategy and partnerships. He also served as CIO of Barclays’ U.S. credit card business, and CTO at Pegasus Solutions, Edgenuity Inc., and Deem. Steitz will report directly to Tomas Gorny, Nextiva’s co-founder and CEO.
In addition to his business experience, Steitz serves as chairman of The Apache Software Foundation, the world’s largest Open Source software foundation, which develops, stewards, and incubates more than 350 projects and initiatives, including Apache HTTP Server, the world's most popular web server software.
“We are thrilled to welcome Phil as the newest member of our leadership team,” said Tomas Gorny. “With his track record in technology leadership roles, including his tenure as the first CTO of American Express and chairman of the Apache Software Foundation, Steitz will elevate Nextiva’s technical organization, guiding us towards our goal: to democratize innovation and share breakthrough technologies, thus helping our customers realize their vision for the future.”
“I am very excited to join the team at Nextiva,” said Steitz. “We have an opportunity to do something really significant here. It is rare to have this combination of leadership vision, talent and market opportunity. I look forward to helping realize Nextiva’s product vision and advancing Nextiva’s customer communications and relationship management.”
