What are Voicemail Greetings?

A voicemail greeting is an audio file that callers hear before they leave a voicemail. It includes an apology for being unavailable to take the call. It also details information required to receive a call back.

There can be multiple voicemail greetings that are triggered differently. A standard greeting plays when the call rings but there is no answer.

A busy greeting plays when a call reaches the phone but it is on Do Not Disturb, or all lines are in use (a user can accept three calls if Call Waiting is enabled).

An extended Away greeting is turned on manually. It is usually used for vacations or extended leave.
