What is TCP?

TCP stands for Transmission Control Protocol. TCP is a process by which computers and other networking devices send data. It is connection-oriented, has error checking, and provides retransmission for missing data packets.

These features increase the latency of data transmission but increase its reliability as well. TCP improves the accuracy of call delivery when calls are delivered simultaneously to multiple devices.

Without error-checking, other phones may continue to ring after the call has been answered.
